Career progression
Started my career in tax in 2011 with one of the big 4 where I stayed for 9 years. Then moved to a local independent practice for 4 years and had a short stint at Scotlands largest accountancy firm helping them to establish their first full service office in England before joining Debere in October 2024
What do you like about working at Debére?
The varied client base from small sole traders through to major corporates, the focus is on client contact and building strong and lasting relationships which are based on trust and good, effective and efficient advice and guidance in all aspects of business.
The team have an excellent dynamic and all work hard for each other in order to ensure work is delivered in a timely manner.
What are your interests outside of work?
I have been married for 11 years to my wife, who is a secondary school teacher, and we have two children. My son is the eldest and a very good footballer. Much of my spare time is spent driving to various training sessions, matches, gym sessions, etc. My daughter is also a very talented dancer and musical theatre artist, so again, much of our spare time is taken up at various classes/coaching, competitions and theatre performances.
I coach a local u18s football team something I’ve been involved with since the team were u7’s and that takes up the remainder of my spare time. I am a Sunderland season ticket holder (sorry!) and have been for many years, when time allows I enjoy following the team around the country at away matches. I also enjoy the occasional round of golf, but those are few and far between these days. As well as sporting activity I enjoy cooking and eating out.
